IP test for water ingress

In order to determine or verify the IP degree of protection, the following equipment is available: IP chamber for automated testing of protection against water from IPX1 to IPX4. Test chamber capacity: 1m³ Test chamber temperature: adjustable from room temperature to 60°C.

IP test for dust ingress

In order to determine or verify the IP degree of protection, the following equipment is available: IP chamber for automated testing of protection against dust from IP5X to IP6X. The chamber includes a ventilation system. Test chamber capacity: 1m³ Test chamber temperature: up to 60°C.

EMC tests for conducted emissions

The generally known immunity and emission test procedures, performed in external labs through antennas in anechoic chambers, are not enough for the research and development of the automotive sector. All the validation tests of the supply specifications usually require following tests that can be conducted in our laboratory at Ponte S. Marco, where the necessary equipment is available:

EMC test station for testing conducted emissions according to ISO 7637 standard for following pulses: Pulse 1, Pulse 2, Pulse 3 a and 3 b (signal and power line), Pulse 4, Pulse 5, Pulse 6 e Pulse 7. The equipment allows to personalize the pulses.

ESD simulation tests

The generally known immunity and emission test procedures, performed in external labs through antennas in anechoic chambers, are not enough for the research and development of the automotive sector. All the validation tests of the supply specifications usually require following tests that can be conducted in our laboratory at Ponte S. Marco, where the necessary equipment is available:
Equipment for ESD simulation tests according to the following standards IEC 1000-4-2, IEC801-2, EN601000-4-2, EN50082, EN60204 or ISO10606/E and for insulation resistance and contact voltage measurements according to VDE0100 standard.

Thermal-shock environmental tests

The climatic chambers are designed to test the efficiency and safety of a test object, identifying the effects of temperature and humidity upon the object. The following chambers are available:

Thermal-shock chamber to perform "Environmental Stress Screening". The chamber consists of two zones in order to perform tests with a temperature range of -80°C to +220°C and a transfer time of <5 s. The maximum load is 20 kg.

Temperature and humidity controlled environmental tests

The climatic chambers are designed to test the efficiency and safety of a test object, identifying the effects of temperature and humidity upon the object. The following chambers are available:

In order to perform temperature tests between -70°C and +180°C and climatic tests between 10°C and +95°C with adjusted relative humidity between 10 and 98%, different climatic chambers with the following internal volumes are available: 40 l, 120 l, 220 l and 500 l. All test chambers are programmable and have auxiliary outlets in order to perform automated tests. The test objects are operated by different power-supply units.

Sinus, random and bump vibration tests

The mechanical resistance of components is tested through sinusoidal, random, bump and shock vibration tests. The test system at TÜV Rheinland Italia incorporates the most modern features:

LDS 721 model for testing sinusoidal vibrations up to about 2.8 kN, random vibrations up to about 1.8 kN and shock vibrations with maximum speeds of up to 0.7 m/s and maximum displacement of 24 mm. Depending on the weight of the sample, accelerations up to about 40 g are possible. In combination with a modern software, the behaviour analysis (for example Resonance-Search ...) can also be performed.

LDS 830 model for testing sinusoidal vibrations up to about 9 kN, random vibrations up to about 9 kN and shock vibrations with maximum speeds of up to 2.0 m/s and maximum displacement of 48 mm. Depending on the weight of the sample, accelerations up to about 60 g are possible. In combination with a modern software, the behaviour analysis (for example Resonance-Search ...) can also be performed. The test objects are operated by different power-supply units.

Climatic chamber combined with vibration system

This system allows combined temperature, humidity and mechanical vibration testing. Different simultaneous tests of the object can be programmed through specific interfaces.

Vibration system features: LDS 721 model for testing sinusoidal vibrations up to about 2.8 kN, random vibrations up to about 1.8 kN and shock vibrations with maximum speeds of up to 0.7 m/s and maximum displacement of 24 mm. Depending on the weight of the sample, accelerations up to about 40 g are possible.

 

Climatic chamber features: Temperature tests between -45°C and +180°C and climatic tests between 10°C and +95°C with relative humidity between 10 and 95%. Test chamber capacity: 500 l.

Salt-spray corrosion tests

Salt-spray corrosion test chamber according to different DIN and ISO standards. Test chamber capacity: 450 l.

Acoustic emission tests

In order to determine acoustic emission levels, a semi-anechoic chamber with following features is used:
Semi-anechoic chamber according to ISO 3745 standard, about 16 dB(A) background noise, 2.8 x 3.3 m load capacity and 2.2 m height. The combination of different acoustic measuring instruments and spectrum analyser allows us to perform several tests. We also have 5 microphones Class 1 Bruel & Kjaer.

Dimensional checks with profile projector

In order to check the dimensional conformity of small components with current documentation (for example lamps according to ECE R 37), the following projector is available.
Type: V12B Nikon projector Enlargement: 5 X Accuracy: 0.01 mm Screen diameter: 305 mm Direct angle sharpness with a precision of 2´.

Photometric quantity measurement in the photometric channel

In order to measure photometric quantities, following instruments are available:

- Colorimeter C 3300
- Retroreflectometer RETRO 2000 for testing according to ECE R 3 and 27, SAE J594 and J774 and DIN 67520
- Luminance camera L1009
- Goniometer GO-H1300 with two photometer heads at 25 m and 3.16 m
- Several test lamps for testing according to ECE and CE
- Calibration reference of photometer heads LN3
- Reflection and transmission measurement system
- Measurement system for flashing lamps
- Software package LIMES 2000 to analyse the measured data

Thanks to the above-mentioned measuring equipment and the installed software package, following measurements are performed:

- Controlled burn in procedure of lamps
- Automatic determination and setting of light and dark limits
- Stability test of light and dark limits according to ECE
- Projector regulation according to SAE (Fractional balancing)
- "Reaiming" of test points during measurement
- "Reaiming" of light distributions for graphical evaluations and simulations
- Adding or averaging of single tests points or light distribution measurements
- Statistical evaluation of photometric data (mean, min, max and standard error)
- Standard database with relevant ECE or SAE regulations as well as Japanese or Korean standards
- Street lighting calculation through simulations of real street conditions
- Test point, line and zone measurements according to ECE, SAE or other standards, such as:

Reflectors (ECE R3, R69, R70, R88)
Warning triangles (ECE R27)
Rear fog lamp (ECE R38)
Clearance, tail and brake lamp (ECE R7, R50)

Determination of the luminous flux of lamps

In order to calibrate test lamps and to perform lamp validation tests, the following equipment is available: Uhlbricht sphere for direct determination of the luminous flux of lamps. Sphere diameter: 1.5 m

Tensile and compression tests

In order to perform tensile and compression tests according to European standards and manufacturers’ specifications, the following equipment is available: Tensile and compression testing machine FRANK 81807: Maximum tractive / compressive force: 50 kN Displacement 900 mm Programmable feed speed with graphs.

Electric and electronics tests

In order to perform post-test electric tests and to prepare the samples to be tested, the following equipment is available: Test bench to perform electric tests, electrical quantity measurements, according to several European standards and/or manufacturers’ specification.

Car and bike power tests on approved roller test bench

Approved test bench to perform static and dynamic tests with registration: Roller test bench API-COM with divisible flywheel masses and engine brake at stray current. Roller maximum speed 4000 rpm Torque up to 200 Nm To perform static (street simulations) and dynamic tests with graphs. Fitted with equipment for silencer ageing.

Car and bike setting up for road tests

Vehicle lift Rav 4 for vehicle setting up for road tests: in order to perform vehicle tests, setting up tests for road tests, for example according to ECE R90, 97/24, with phonometers Bruel & Kjaer Class 1 and optic speed sensors DATRON for maximum speeds of 200 km/h.

Test / homologation for alloy wheels:
We have the complete equipment to perform wheels tests. We use the following machines to perform fatigue and impact tests and the machine described at point 10 to perform flattening and energy absorption tests according to the specifications of the car producers. The rolling tests are carried out at the group facilities in Lambsheim. Depending on the request, at the end of the tests we issue: ABE certificates , Teilegutachten, dauerfestigkeit, or simple test results of the private tests.

After the rotating bend tests, the wheels are tested with penetrants. The impact tests introduced by the German national regulation are performed with the following equipment:

Wheels up to 23” with road tyre.
Impacting masses
from min. 265 kg up to max. 1,015 kg.
The tests are performed according to the German national regulation.
